This course provides a clear, practice-focused introduction to Large Eddy Simulation (LES). You will learn LES fundamentals, SGS modelling, and hybrid RANS–LES concepts, then apply them to a real case: turbulent flow past a square cylinder. You will implement key SGS models (Smagorinsky, WALE, k-equation, hybrid methods), study vortex shedding and wake dynamics, and evaluate mesh requirements. The course ends with a comparison of LES results against a k-ω SST RANS simulation to highlight accuracy and cost trade-offs.
